This page covers the small tools of Ongk Workshop (ongk.dev) that use the Threads API (Meta app nghedb) and the YouTube Data API. Last updated: 27 September 2026.

What the tools do

  • Search public posts and comments by keyword related to e-readers, such as “xteink”, “crosspoint”, “koreader” and “máy đọc sách” (Vietnamese for “e-reader”), on Threads and under YouTube videos. Purpose: learn what readers are asking, so Ongk Workshop can write how-to articles on ongk.dev and answer questions.
  • Publish posts to Ongk Workshop’s own accounts (Threads @ongk.workshop, the Ongk Workshop YouTube channel), for example to announce a new blog article.
  • Reply to questions from Ongk Workshop’s own account. The tools never post on anyone else’s account.

Data collected

For each public post or comment that matches a keyword, the tools store only:

  • its text,
  • its link and ID,
  • the time it was posted.

The tools do not store the author’s username, display name, profile picture, followers or any other profile information. They do not read private messages and do not access content that is not public.

How the data is used

  • Posts are grouped into question topics (for example “reading progress sync fails”) to choose subjects for how-to articles.
  • The tools prepare draft replies. A human (Kiên, who writes ongk.dev) reads, edits and approves every reply before it is posted. Nothing is posted automatically, and the number of replies per day is capped.

To group questions and draft replies, the text of a post (without any author information) is sent to Google’s Gemini AI service for processing. Apart from that, the data is not sold, not shared with third parties, not used for ad targeting and not used to build profiles of individuals. Results are only published in aggregate form (for example “many people ask about X”), never quoted together with anyone’s identity.

Storage and retention

The data is kept in a private database on Ongk Workshop’s own machine, not exposed to the Internet. Access tokens issued by Meta and Google are stored separately and never included in source code. Stored posts and draft replies are kept for at most 24 months and then deleted.

YouTube

The YouTube features use YouTube API Services, so they are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. The tools only access Ongk Workshop’s own YouTube account. You can revoke the tools’ access on Google’s security permissions page.

Data deletion requests

To have your post or comment removed from the tools’ data, email [email protected] with the link to the Threads post or YouTube comment. Ongk Workshop will delete it within 30 days and confirm by reply. You can also revoke the app’s access at any time in Threads: Settings → Account → Website permissions.
